WHILL, a next-gen personal mobility device company, turns to Kickstarter for funding their latest feature on WHILL Type-A, a compact single passenger electric vehicle. The new feature will allow the user to connect their smartphone wirelessly to their mobility device via bluetooth.
San Francisco, CA (WEB) June 11th, 2014 — A next-gen personal mobility device company WHILL launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for their latest update to WHILL Type-A. With the hardware development nearing the final stage, the engineer team is attempting to integrate software to the device for ultimate user customization.
Utilizing their collaborative experiences from Japanese manufacturers like Sony, Olympus, Toyota, and Nissan, the team’s goal is to create the world’s most advanced personal mobility device.
When asked about why Kickstarter, the team responded, “personal mobility devices like wheelchairs and scooters is the only category of products that has not yet enjoyed the fruit of innovation. We thought the Kickstarter community would appreciate the technology and design we apply to our project.”
The iOS application in development will be able to customize the mobility device to allow total control and adjust it perfectly to the user’s personal preference. The bluetooth connection will also allow it to work as a remote control so people can retrieve WHILL Type-A without having to move.
“Our mission is to change people’s perception about personal mobility” Satoshi Sugie, the CEO explains, “WHILL Type-A is meant to provide independence and style for everybody, so what we offer need to be up to everybody’s standards.” The noticeably unique design has recently awarded Honorable Mention by the Red Dot Design Award.
